Understanding scales and harmonies. Exercises to increase precision and speed. Utilizing varied practices for improv. Understanding and shaping tone. Understanding the diferences of solo performance, piano accompaniment and how to play with a group.
Students can enjoy playing Lucian's 1947 Wurlitzer upright or their KORG SV-1 Professional Stage Piano.

VOCAL PERFORMANCE and PEDAGOGY

Everything you need to know to sing with confidence in public

Help defining voice part and selecting appropriate material. Use of vocal exercises to increase strength and range. Breath work, diaphragm and projection. Microphone technique and singing with a band. Lucian will accompany lessons on the piano and has a full-length mirror to allow student to monitor posture.

MUSIC PRODUCTION and WORKING IN A DAW

Everything you need to know to build professional quality .WAV file music

Understanding song form. Hashing out ideas and soundscaping. Honing in on the hook. Filling out the arrangement. Working with MIDI plug-ins and commiting to audio. Understanding EQ and creating space. Use of time sensitive plug-ins. Options for mastering and best practices for export and file management. Lucian has the capability to work and teach in Ableton Live Suite 11 and Logic Pro X

MUSIC THEORY, COMPOSITION and ORCHESTRATION

Want to dive deeper into musical structure with Big ideas and orchestral sounds? this course is for you.

Learn the rules of notation and best practices for transcribing. Understanding classic orchestral structure and setup. Learning instruments of varied orchestral set-ups and understanding tamber. Utilizing functions to mix-up motifs. Understanding rhythms and time. Conducting and leading a group. Reading music from chord symbols while adding smooth voice leading. Playinging by ear.
